COMPANY PROFILE

Welcome to Meaden

A Brief Outline of the History of MEADEN
Meaden began manufacturing in a four car garage on Kedzie Avenue in Chicago in 1939. The newly formed company was very active in manufacturing for the government during the second world war. This growth soon forced the company to relocate to larger quarters. The Meaden family purchased land on Chicago’s South side and built a new and modern (for the time) manufacturing facility. This building was expanded two additional times to keep pace with the ever growing needs of the company. In the late 70’s, Meaden was again out of room, but without space to grow. With those thoughts and planned expansion a necessity, a plot of land was purchased in Burr Ridge Illinois and a new building was designed. In 1979, the Meaden family moved into 40,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space twenty minutes outside of downtown Chicago. In the 90’s, expansion was again required. Today, Meaden stands as a premier example of world class manufacturing. We welcome your visit at any time. We can be easily reached from two nearby airports, served by all major highways.
The Forms Industry
I
n the late 50’s, Meaden began supporting the forms industry. We are the originator of both the serrated die and the mini perf slitter wheel. Neither of these items are patented. This was done intentionally to allow our industry to benefit from this new technology. Today, Meaden has distribution outlets in 16 different countries throughout the world. We pride ourselves in the fact that the majority of our products are in stock and ship within 24 hours of placing an order. This, along with over $2,000,000.00 in inventory, places Meaden as one of the largest suppliers of products and accessories for the printing industry in the world.
An Import Leader
Long ago, Meaden realized that it was not practical to try to reinvent the wheel. With that philosophy, Meaden began to seek "Trade Partners" that were well established manufacturers of premium, high quality products that would compliment our growing arena of manufactured goods. Today, we are importing products and representing some of the best manufacturers in the world. Examples would be the line of machinery and equipment developed in Germany by Schober. This line of "New Generation Style" tooling can be found running on more presses than that of any copy cat brand that is on the market today. The "Sisprint Quick Change Air Bar" is another example of a premium labor saving device that is available in North America only through Meaden. We also import and distribute additional knives that continue to compliment the broad line of wheels that we produce here in Burr Ridge.

The Future
The Meaden family has always felt the importance of reinvesting profits in the company. This has always been done with careful planning, direction and goals, all designed to carry the company aggressively into the future. Today, the majority of our equipment has been replaced with new machinery and technology. We are one of the few manufacturers that have actually lowered our prices to share savings with our customers when improvements were successful.

Our People
All of our growth and prosperity has been made possible by the combined efforts of an excellent group of people that we are proud to call our friends. These friends consist of the 125 Meaden employees that are here every day to serve you. Over the years, some great people have walked through our doors. They are the reason for our success!

In Conclusion
Today, we have seen four generations of the Meaden family involved in the success of our company. Each has contributed differently to our history. While we are fortunate to have three generations in the company each day, they, along with the entire Meaden team, are here to serve you. Please feel free to contact any of us at any time.
